My darkness is held tight in a bottle
With a cork that holds it in
I never want to let that darkness free
I never want to see it's ugly face
Smokey gray and black
It swirls
In the clear glas walls
Raging in the confinment
Screaming to be let free
My darkness is held in a bottle
The cork is lossing its grip
Soon the darkness seeps out
Around me, swirling madly
I cannot stop it now
Its suffocating me
Taking me with it to another place
All that's left now
Is the clear glass bottle
Empty on the table

I don't know if this is supposed to be related to drinking alcohol or not...but that is the way I percieved it and corrualated to me...so you can say I did enjoy and at the same time felt this in some way to my life! very good read

Wonderful Joy, different views for different readers. That is mastery

wonderful work joy... the imagery is captivating... i can't help but think of the Arabian Nights' stories of jinnees being set free from their holding places in bottles and lamps... very good job

sincerely,
jerome the boy with no brain

A savage place! as holy and enchanted
As e'er beneath a waning moon was haunted
By woman wailing for her demon-lover!

After I finished this, I too had the image of a genie in a bottle.  I was wondering if anyone might see it this way too!

And while it isn't exactly about alchohol, I can see how this poem could be interpreted in so many different ways.

Mastery.  A word I could get used to!

Beautifully done
So many ways to look at it and find some new meaning
