my mind is constantly haunted,
by the reminders of days gone by.
how i ever survived the times,
at the things i've done and tried.

i see the youth of present time,
no direction to lead the way.
spirits lost forever,
to the devil their souls do pay.

my generation found the freedom,
that so many could not claim.
but we lost so many things,
enslaved in the name of fame.

bestowed to be the leaders,
of a time that brought us peace.
left behind the morals of old,
brought violence to the streets.

our fathers went before us,
leaving a cross for us to bear.
unfullfilled are their prayers and wishes,
for our own we cannot care.

gone are the wars of global trend,
they died to set us free.
now it's time to honor them,
together you and me.

mojar.

"my generation found the freedom,/ that so many could not claim./ but we lost so many things,/ enslaved in the name of fame."  how beautifully said and how sadly true.

This is heavy, but very true.  In fact, i wonder if we value the world as our parents did?  As for the younger generation it is a worry.  They are the leaders of tomorrow..where will the world go then?  Nothing against anyone younger, but you all have different ideals from that of us and our parents.
Gee we could start a forum about this subject alone!!  Well done

Hey I realised that.  I am 32 myself, how old are you?  Hey I don't like to be referred to as the older generation Good God!!

This is a very powerful poem indeed. Being one of the younger generation, I suppose, I would like to think that there are alot of us who could bring alot of new and wonderful possibilities for the future with our different ideas and perspectives on things. Just like every generation there are the good and the bad. We just need the time and the chance to prove ourselves as those before us have.
By the way, I'm not being defensive.   I think your poem is a wonderful piece and shares a realistic point of view. I'm just adding my perception of things.
