you are there
standing in the lean
splitting light-rays
splicing shadow-lengths
veiled by languorous curtains
deep blue like tropical sky
stroked gently by the warm air
that makes its way liltingly
through the w i d e verandahs
ever so sensuously

exclusive,
you are a never-aging divinity
an elusive lotus-feet dancer
who even lights up
the Maharajah’s eyes
and makes his royals
uncomfortable --
soaked with lust

you are
Moh and Maya
lust and charm,
craving and desire,
embodied in
one cruel concoction

~

somehow,
my eyes pierce your aura
to lay a watch
on the dusty streets
somewhere
among the outside

some rain could fall
real soon
on the parched insides
of the bowels of those streets
where I would walk
in unsure yet unhurried steps

scorched by heat,
perhaps from the summer,
the dry earth lies over-baked
ruptured into mud-patches
that lie crippled
much like a pariah dog trapped
under a reckless rickshaw
and left behind like banana skin
spotty and yellow --
rusting into slow brown

I wish some of the rain falls
on me too

~

more than lust,
there's a need to belong
to someone, something
anyone, anything

even a pariah needs a saaya
from a banyan tree
in the harshest of summers

and though, the tree is not family
the shade acts as a balm
that heals the burning
and protects the brain
from further damage

in that aloofed state
any roof will do

~

who gives a tree-shoot
if curtains that hide
are those that will shade
for any length of time

who gives a pink spark
if the light that smiles
gives relief to each
quirky wayfarer

~

lust or fortitude

who gives in
first?

-----------------------------
Indian (Hindi/Sanskrit/Tamil) words

Moh: Lust, craving ... more pertaining to physical attraction
Maya: Desire, charm  ... more like the charm of money or the idealistic desire to live better ... an illusory appearance...
Saaya: Shadow
Pariah: Outcast, a discard of society... a pariah dog is a street mongrel
Rickshaw: a 3-wheeled vehicle, which is used to transport people, in many parts of India
----------

This write has no real resemblance to anything directly concerninng me, but just a collection of my thoughts on the matter...

hope it was worth your time...
