My days of yore hath beckoned me
To trek the springtide presently;
Where secrets of the grandest oak
Dwell in my heart eternally.

Long since the day when I awoke
To greet this wooded verdant cloak.
Yet nestling weald embracing now,
Recalls those fledgling times we spoke.

Footmarks of time have trod my brow
And fortnight’s rings mark woodland bough.
Yet springtime blooms just as before,
Rejuvenating youth’s avow.

The tallest oak’s prophetic lore
Wends paths that leave the forest floor.
Beyond the meadow seasons more.
Beyond the meadow seasons more.

Oh How beautiful!
In the rhythms of Frost!

Thank you so much, dear friend
I do believe that Oak Spring has veiled all who visited with its mystical powers. A little piece of GOd's earth has mesmerized you for life.
Thank you for sharing in my love of this special place.

I'm ecstatic!

I love you all to bits!

Nan,

I love the old world feel to this and especially the repetition of those last two lines.

You big show off!   Not only does it rhyme, it is an absolutely beautiful mental painting of that oak spring day and place even without the picture.  Gee, a person could learn poetry hanging around you I bet?

Thank you, my poetic friends - for taking the time to stop by and visit with Liz on her visit to her childhood home.  It was an honor to be there with her, and an honor to express the moment in words, though they could never quite match the "real" experience...

You dont post often enough...but when you do tis always a treat for my tongue..
this was a delight to read aloud...as always your mastery of rhyme and vocabulary is a lesson in poetic perfection.
And this is a lovely gifting of words inspired by friendship.
Makes it a double delight.
