First Love

I remember moonlit kisses
Behind the Bradford Pear
Pebbles missing windows
Hoping parents weren’t in there

Tip toes and rickety stairs
A squeaky basement door
Thinking I was a goner
Seeing father standing there

Sunday afternoons of freedom
So young and so carefree
The songs that were our anthem
Not knowing responsibility

Barbecues and croquet
Evenings and setting suns
Bored at all our birthdays
Wishing we could run

Bountiful are my memories
When I think back on that time
Falling in love, a rosy view
When young and so agile

I still remember my first love
A landmark in my mind
Memories, spellbinding
Back to another time….

This is delightful, dear Kie. You made me remember those times too! Agile and carefree, ahhh yes!
So lovely.

Beautiful writing, Kie.
And, what would we do without
our memories.

Oh, Kie...this is a lovely thing, to rekindle similar memories in another!  "First Love" was an amazing thing for the senses...If only we could live those moments over and over forever!

Great Poem!

Kie, this was lovely, and I have to agree with you that the first love is a landmark, for sure!
