I sent a storm in an envelope
Sealed in dust and broken hope
“Have you seen the breezy skies?”
She smiles as thunder strips my wings
Purple skies have broken bones
Bled my heart of sticks and stones
“Have you felt the way it dies?”
She’s fine as lightning brings me stings

We will find this fence post prison
Beneath a sun that won’t let us see
We will smear the fields of monster green
Besides, the phoenix smothers me

A crack now holds my eyes
It’s filled with tears, so deep
When you get that envelope
I’d ask you please to try
So here I sleep in yellow fields
Beneath some bruising cloud
Hush, hush willows
Never make a sound

That was beautiful.  Touching as it was, it was probably the most haunting poem I've read in this forum.  Thank you for that harrowing experience.

Beneath some bruising cloud

this is art.
It seems like some other world...
enchanting...and eerie.

I wrote it driving home on a long trip.  There were clouds which seemed to hold some impending doom, it was really quite inspiring.  Perhaps the eerie vibe came from the fact that I was driving through flat nothingness haha.

"Purple skies have broken bones
Bled my heart of sticks and stones..."

Adroit and exceptional. Great title too, by the way.

Hollow.
