The Morals of this world

Help your fellow man,
Or at least look like you would,
You don’t really need to do it,
Just look like you could.

Practice what you preach,
Or preach a little louder,
That way you won’t need to follow through,
And you can act a little prouder.

Help them when it suits you,
I’m sure they’ll wait and see,
Make sure that you comfortable,
That there’s nowhere you’d rather be.

Don’t worry about the wars,
The famine death and misery,
Just live life to your full,
No one will think you ornery.

No one will think you ornery,
Because they all do it too,
Turn a blind eye when it suits them,
To think this could be you!

You could be just like them,
Foolish, vain and sick,
Caring more of the thoughts of others,
Becoming almost frantic.

Now the moral of this poem,
I’m sure you think you know,
Be good to those less fortunate,
Well I’m sad to say no!

The moral of this poem,
Is simpler still than that,
Do what you say you will,
Do not let your morals become tat!

I was not sure if this is deemed dark or not, sorry if its not!

Let the moonlight paint your face, let the stars be your cloak...

nice moral set! that is the way it should be! a good write! maybe not exactly dark but definately not light either! keep up the good work!

cynical or maybe just wise? discerning? realistic?...
whatever it is, just don't let it rob you of what is truly
precious in life!
