Amidst black roses

They have always been there,
for every knight with his holy creed
there was always a faithfull noble steed.

the absolute joy of the reader
and the true companion of a leader.
Brave in the deepest darkest of night
and always bearing you to a fight.

Honoured and revered in battles so grand
and standing till the end in a last stand.
now none sings their songs, their praise.
they are gone, lost, the sad remainders of an age.

as this life at last fades
i stare at these forlorn shades.
their anguish is not mine to bear
but still heavy on my heart it wears.

as this hell comes to a end
and my spirit no longer has to fend
i laugh in bitter biting tones

as i realise that at this grave
sympathy is to be saved.

laugh if you will
judge if you must
always a betrayer of trust
but shed no tear at something so misbegotten
a grave that only reads gone and forgotten

This is really nice

It's a shame about those forgotten, but you've done a great tribute to them here just by writing this.

brilliant piece.
