“In Johannesburg, South Africa, a Scotch
goldminer saved the sediments of his baths
for 20 years. When he panned the accu-
mulation from 20 years’ baths, he had 20
ounces of pure gold, worth almost $500.”

     -Time Magazine, December 5, 1932

Would I assay and sort
the turgid purges
thus accrued,
I’d rue the turbid
echoes of the pride
I tried to wash away

Were I to sift and sieve
then grade the error,
envy and the fault,
I’d mire in the soiled
fen of such reflection

There is no filter,
should be no screen
to hoard the long bled
oozing of the vice
I’ve tried to wash away

no lumped misdeeds,
no mean accumulation

Just siphoned sin
divested, done
that I might take
a few steps everyday
and seem the cleaner
(at least till past the mirror)
and not survey
the things I tried to wash away

Good thing you're Irish!  Sheesh, pull the plug and let it purge.  Excellent write m'friend, you are in fine form (and free verse yet!)

This was incredible (felt the pain):

  There is no filter,
should be no screen
to hoard the long bled
oozing of the vice
I’ve tried to wash away

((hugs)) to you because you and your poetry have been missed. Every time you go away I ask where you have been. I hope you are doing well. I really do miss you.

I LOVE YOU! I LOVE YOU! I LOVE YOU!

I threw away my filters and sifters.

A tight write, Richard.
