Someone told me today that they missed my words (you know who you are, and thank you) and it made me want to write..too bad the muse is vacationing...

I’ve been wearing a jacket
But let bite of chill caress my face
I put the heat on in my pickup, with window down
Giving room for winters taste

The cold doesn’t bother me
Feeling alive at last
I am hot on the inside
Life no longer such a task

I greet the crisp sunshine
In slippers and nightgown
To feel contrast of warmth and cold
I no longer wear the safety of a frown

(Okay, so I live in Florida..but dang, it's cold to me!!)

then you won't see the best that I would love to do for you"

I can relate....SC is kinda chilly too...
And YES, you have been missed.  So there!

And I think your muse must have woken up,
this is a nice post for the day.

Winter's Taste

The morning's ice clung to the branches,
arms not wishing to let go.
But sunshine rose, its warmth loosening,
letting rainbow droplets
fall to the earth.

Now how cold was it, Susan

So nice to read you again...see, you inspired me

For a muse who slipped out for a vacation, it still seems he or she left you with plenty of thoughts...

You want cold?  I've got cold, girl..and snow...lots and lots of white stuff...

but I understand what a chill can do...

The left coast was colder still,  the high being 55!!  I had my windows down too, and I know what you mean,  the contrasts were a mix of all that I'm feeling, and yet I found myself smiling,  in spite of the chill.

I've missed reading you Susan.
Happy Holidays to you~

It's good to see you, Susan...and read your poetry.  I think I am much like you here in southern California...where 60 is cold.  I understand the contrasts.  Thanks!

"I no longer wear the safety of a frown" -- how true (never thought about this before) -- great line.  I'm glad I got to read your poem.  Happy holidays!

Living in a winter wonderland myself, I find it hard to imagine your kind of "cold" and "crisp"! I melt just thinking of Florida! lol ~ but I'll take your word for it!

Delightful and yin-yangy! ~ and great to read you again, Susan!

Warm hugs from the REAL "cold" North!

Linda
