Still Holding You

Hearing sounds of laughter
born of yesterday
        I smile
reflect upon those moments
    cherished memories

Days of softness
like flow of silk
     recollections of the past...

Raindrops in gentle fall
reminders of time spent
    sharing
walking in mist of eve
embraces
under shimmer of moon

Twilight watched love growing
the stars beckoning
"wish upon me"

whispers escaping
consenting to their pleas,
       and we,
like children oblivious to the coming storm
reveled in the gaiety of our youth.

Hours stolen
throwing caution to the wind
daring time
catch us if you can....

Sudden flashes, dodging lightning bolts
         of realization.

Time does not stand still
life moves on
as does           love
and some wishes
aren't meant to come true
but yet          I find
I'm still holding you~

I wish you joy,
I wish you peace,
I wish that every star you see
is within your reach...

and I wish you still loved me.
(Jodee Messina)

I cry for love that's gone
A love that can't be mine.
I pay everyday for loving him,
A love deep down inside.
I keep my distance, praying
he will come my way.

     I feel your anguish.

Those were the best moments, weren't they?
This is lovely, and it tugs so hard.

Dear Donna, I'm so glad to see you posting more often.

I really love reading your poetry,
and the comfort that it brings.

Donna, it was so hard picking a favorite stanza..but this one..

"Hours stolen
throwing caution to the wind
daring time
catch us if you can...."

I know...

This read like a song..

"if you won't let me fall for you
then you won't see the best that I would love to do for you"
