I lost you that day, as rains dampened.
As minutes became hours before the set
of a brilliant sun.  Where rays fell gently
upon the green lawn, manicured by hands
roughened by hours of sweat and toil.

My dreams escape me,   as nights become
turbulent and the mist on a mind’s eye
blankets the horizon of tomorrow.  Countless,
the dwindle of light across the cool sheet.
Lingering, the gnawing feel of emptiness
within.   Spotted, the damp cold feel of
tears puddling the pillow before a lone
embrace replaces the void of you...
being gone.

Your eyes, the entry, gateway to your soul.
Darkness replacing the gleam of what was.
I sensed intuitively before I saw this.  Though
aware, I still faltered.   My strength waning
rapidly as a distant moon set against the
glow of life awaiting the bustle.

Sleep is harsh upon me.  Running swiftly
away into corners of darkness.   Leaving
only a trace of sand upon the floor, telling
me he was there...I brushed aside that
which soothed me....

Bring to me a dream, that I might once,
just once see into your eyes.  That within
my own, you will see the truth of me.
For I yearn to again embrace the heady
warmth of you as a delicate softness
covers us beneath a waxing crescent
moon.

Excellent poetry....
There is a certain dark joy in reading poems as this...and I don't know why? Perhaps it is that I feel a sense of kinship with others when they expound on their own misfortunes? A sad brotherhood of sorts...

enjoyed the read ......ice

But awake, awake, for the morn moon
is full of bright,
lighting the way to one more night...
