I'm writing out my shopping list
For mine would be a life of bliss
If purchase of all these name brands
Could ease some of this world's demands.

A case of JOY's my first request
And then, perhaps, some bars of ZEST
They promise more than cleaning power
For kitchen sink and morning shower.

The dirty laundry shall ride
out upon the morning TIDE,
and one swipe of WINDEX sublime
shall wipe away the window grime.

I'm out of GATORADE,
forgot to remind the MINUTE MAID,
but will call her after taking my DETROL,
so I don't have to go right now.

I cruise the rice aisle for SUCCESS
Back to the soaps for a CARESS
I'd love a BOUNTY of good CHEER
To banish pain and erase fear.

Is it too much that I should wish
ALL crime and war would just VANISH?
I hope we see a brighter DAWN
Before they write on my TOMBSTONE.

Kacy Stafford & Ruth Gill

Thank you, Midnitesun... I truly appreciate you honoring me with your skills. *S*

wranx: The cashiers all shuddered. LOL It certainly was fun to write... glad you liked. Thank you! *S*

Martie: Grocery shopping is the one shopping trip I enjoy... c'mon along... we'll have fun. *S* Thank you!

angelblueyes: I don't think we could ask for more than to give a smile... thank you very much! *S*

Midnitesun: Just send that MINUTE MAID this way, please... I've been neglecting my chores! LOL I do thank you very much, lady... here's your poem, slightly revised to reflect finished product. *S*

Longing Looks (Thank You, Midnitesun!)

As a child there were many times
I wanted to join in some play
But my talents were limited
And I was just in the way

Kids have no thought for feelings
But my gut always felt kicked
When teams were chosen one by one
And I was the last one picked

Our family lacked the money
For me to become a Girl Scout
So I heard the giggles of classmates
And I always felt left out

I immersed myself in reading books
And escaped into fantasy
Where I wasn’t outside looking in
And someone was there to choose me.

I know I’m a long way from childhood
But the ache was much the same
When I saw all the pairings for duets
And just stood watching the game.

I worked up the courage to shyly ask
For a partnering - that was no go
Even knowing I was out of my league
My confidence hit a new low.

I give all of this explanation
So you’ll know my thanks are sincere -
That you would risk this joining
Gave me both great joy and much fear

But though I shook with trepidation
I think you’re the best gal around
Thank you for taking a chance on me
I hope I didn't let you down!

Thank you! *S*

And Ruth? yer makin a tear rolldown my cheeks again. That's the kindest thank you I've ever received, and for doing one of the easiest things for a poet friend to do on this planet.
Keep smiling, my friend!

Don't forget that jar of VASELINE,
The best darn face cream I've even seen.
I hope PREPARATION H is on that list?
Not for your butt, for burns, its' the best!

There's my home remedies for your shopping spree,
Bet you're glad to hear the last of me?

Oh you two, this was adorable!

Dang...just look at the poets
coming together...it's enough
to think we ought to start planning
another reunion!

That is some tall order you two just filled! I'd love to go shopping with you! I could add a few things to that shopping list!--and then we could go out into the world spreading Cheer!

Entertaining write!

(smiles) Yay! Oh my gosh, I just love this, dearest friends, this is so very novel and eloquently and passionately declared, how hard can it possibly be to understand just what love is and start to work toward eliminating the stains, Downy and Lysol spray is not even enough to establising peace, we must all take part! (big hugggsssssss) This reminded me so much of a similar kind of poem I wrote, only using mall store names, you can find it here:
/pip/Forum81/HTML/002193.html

(big group angel hug) I just absolutely admire this and the both of you, into my library it belongs, we all love you both so much! You have such beautiful hearts, sweet Suthern and Kacy, thank you both for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton
