Wishing On Andromeda

They don't come true.
I mean, not ever.
Try it, pick one at random,
or carefully like I did.
either way they don’t come true.

Or maybe they do
and there’s that distance thing,
delay time even at the speed of light;
make a serious wish on the Dog Star
and it’s eight-point-seven years there,
the same back, a lifetime of dog years
before you know.

Mine? Andromeda, a whole galaxy.
Thought if I spread my odds
across a few hundred million,
maybe one would come through
and I’d get it all in a night.
Anyway, it won’t come true.
Or maybe it’s happening now,
I mean, for me, what some sloth
wished, four million years ago.

It feels like that.

*laugh*

Don't try so hard; just let the wish and desires flow calmly through you.  For these things, distance is timeless.

Besides, you still give good verse!  *smile*

If I did that, I might actually get it -- then I'd really be in trouble.....

Ed

There is a bit of whimsy mixed with the sad in this....made me want to say "you're cute!", and also give you a hug.  As a girl I wished on stars every night...I think maybe now some are finally coming true.   you!

Woo-Hoo! Andromeda comes through for me -- and 3,199,999.997 years early!

Why limit yourself to Andromeda! Your chances improve when you wish upon several star systems!

--and remember! You must take care in what you wish for!--you just might get it! lol

During a meteor storm a few years back, the stars were falling faster than I could wish... and believe me, I had lots to say. *S* I thought the cosmic forces were simply ignoring my requests... thanks for explaining the delay! LOL

This is a beautiful mix of sadness and humor, my friend... a write I like very much. *S*

delay time even at the speed of light;

This is quite a colorful combination dear Ed~

Sometimes it's enough that they simply were, in some form or another.

Nicely done Sir~

This stayed so much on my mind yesterday... I had to pay it another visit. *S* It's even better with additional readings... even if it does leave me with less hope for my wishes. *S*
