Purple red green yellow
Colourful dots in sky so blue
Just balloons free
From the grasp of little hands

Children's screams echo through the grounds
Some cry for their losses
Others weep for a chance
To hold on to something so precious

I think LOVE is like a balloon
Colourful and exciting
Yet there is always a fear
It might burst and cause pain

Holding on for so long
You will feel tired soon
Yet release the string and
It will forever be gone

Some hold on too tight but
That is not the way
The beauty lies in its freedom
To sway in the wind

There are others holding too long
Doing all to hold it close
Yet life will soon seep out
All efforts go to waste

Some get a chance to hold it
Yet they know not how to treasure it
Dangling it around their little finger
The string soon loosens itself

And there are those who
Walk around the fair looking
For just one balloon
One balloon that is up for grabs

A balloon for each person
Love for all
It does not seem too hard
Just handle with care!

How very lovely Mon Cherie.

"The beauty lies in its freedom
To sway in the wind"

I think you touched upon some great truths here! You have my vote.

Thanks for the vote, Margherita.

Personally, I like this best coz it reflects me:
"And there are those who
Walk around the fair looking
For just one balloon
One balloon that is up for grabs"

Balloons brighten up the world--and so does your lovely poem about them! In fact, I wrote a poem about balloons but I don't believe I ever posted it. Yours is absolutely delightful!

(jumps in joy and delight) Yay! Oh my gosh, I'm so happy to see you again, I have missed your beautiful words soooooooo much! (kiss on cheek) I know this feeling so well because I love balloons but every time a balloon popped it made me cry and it broke my heart because I'm very sensitive to things like that! (big hugggssssss) God Bless You, sweet friend, may you always soar above the clouds in loves joy, yay, we all love you so much and you have my angelic vote! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Florence, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

QjQ:
Thanks for reading!

Earth Angel:
Please share your balloon poem with us! I'd really like to read it.

Mistletoe Angel:
Thanks Noah! For your continuous support, and your encouraging words. I haven't written and read in a long while coz of a busy time schedule. But glad to see that I'm still remembered here, and that there are still so much wonderful readable poems here.

Heh.... Suddenly came up with this thought... Imagine a room filled with pink heart-shaped balloons (helium ones, of course) floating along the ceiling. The floor lined with red roses....... Now, isn't that a romantic Valentines' Day setting?

YES! I am glad to see you posted one for the book. CLICK!
And I love this balloon/love poem, much truth told within the flight of this one.

May ripples of LOVE
become waves of PEACE

no, actually it would blind me and freak me out...too much pink!

i remember this one and think that you have made a good choice...for the cool subject matter and for your insights and for the way how inspiration striked and how you grabbed hold of it (you wrote this while working in a job fair, didn't you?)

Thank you, Bill! Hope it lifted you as high as where balloons go to when they float off.

kaile:
Haha. Maybe you're right, can't get too romantic when one is blinded by the bright colours.

Yup, I wrote this at a SingTel roadshow last year. This is a repost for the book Thought I'd give it a try.
