Island in Paradise

0 posted 2003-04-30 04:05 PM

You are my Knight in shining armor
Who rescued me from the abyss of dark despair
You wiped all sorrow from my eyes
With your tender touch
You crowned me with peace and joy
And courted me in the Garden of Paradise.
You soothed my fears
With the sweetness from your lips.
And brought me up out of the dark chasm
Into the brighter light of your love.
You, the brightest morning Star
Shimmering in magnificence!

With you I am safe and secure
As I nestle in the shelter
Of your loving embrace
Under the shadow of
Your gossamer wing.
You are my hiding place….
My high tower
Where I may take refuge
From the raging storms
And overwhelming adversity

Yes, I am always sheltered
By your unfailing love and tender care.
I dwell in peace ,
Joyful to be alone with you.

Many have disappointed me
Leaving me intimately aquainted with pain
Filling my cup with sorrows
Overflowing me with hopelessness,
My visions and dreams obscured
In a dismal prison of loneliness.

But you rescued me,
Putting your royal robes about me
And your ring upon my finger
As you kissed me tenderly
And called me your own.

Yes, my Knight,
Slayer of the terrible serpent,
I observed the battle from a high tower,
My haven of safety
As you drove the serpent
To shame and certain death
By the power of your Sword of Truth.

Your mighty angel warriors
Carried me over the Valley of Shadows
And set my feet upon high ground
In meadows of peace and joy.

O How I love you
You have shown me
Your gentleness and care
As if I were a precious
And costly diamond or ruby
Of great worth.

I beheld the wonders of your love
As you overcame the serpent
And cast him down under your feet
To be trampled in the dust.

All…for the love of me
I adore you my King
And my shining Knight
I call out your name
As a song in the wind
And hear the melody of your voice
Calling me home to Paradise.

From Psalm 91

Poetry is:
Passion, imagination and intellect running together.

These are my favorite lines.  I guess because I can relate.  Beautiful writing!
