                Real Beauty

She saw real beauty on the television.
Each girl thin,
Body parts the right size,
placed with precision.
She looked at her breast size,
it was a 32B,
then she looked at Real Beauty's
and wanted a DD.
She saw the thin girls,
who exercised with great haste,
she decided that she was too fat,
and wanted a slim waist.
She thought that if she lost some weight,
she would look like a winner.
So everyday after she would eat,
She would go and spit up dinner.
Her parents paid it no mind,
they thought it was just a phase,
until one day at school,
she passed out from a hunger pangs.
She went to get help,
but nothing would help her through
she just wanted real beauty.
If she had to do anything,
than anything is what she would do.
For all you girls out there,
who want to beautiful, wait and see,
that you are as beautiful as god made you.
Please don't end up like me.

Yes, Essence, I was thinking the same as
Severn said in the reply above me.....this
was a very brave first post for you to
make. I also commend you for it.

To me, the best poetry is when it's written
from someone's heart. I hope to read more
of your work. And,

Hugs,

Oh my goodness. This is so tragically beautiful and so, so sad, that I broke down reading it. This is written so well. I love the style, and the message, oh man.
I really hope you get through this allright. My mother was anorexic in her teens, and she made it through in the end, I hope you do too. I know that kind words don't always do much, and that you can get sick of all the pity after a while, I've had problems with well suicide and stuff in the past, and I hate the consolation stuff after a while. If you aren't through this already, keep fighting please, OK?
