Idiosyncratization
By: Noah Eaton
5/10/03

Don’t expect me to say anything
There’s truly nothing I want to convey
I don’t wish to take a side, you see
I’ll keep modest as long as I can take
I just wish to find a melody without prejudice
Wear my tie-dyed T-shirts at every bull session
And if you feel I’m making it all sound jaundiced
Rest assured I’m just making justice,
But you have the right to ask questions…

And I’m calling it idiosyncratization
I don’t need no burden of proof
It’s all idiosyncratization
That is all I’m trying to prove…

Very soon it will make much more sense
Every time you look it all over
Some may always see what you see as burlesque
Too many take this as a mission in covert
Time and time again one calls the shots
As others fear their heroes lives are at stake
Only to be reminded this is just art you’ve sought
At first sight they push you away, but at second glance they can relate…

Because it’s all about idiosyncratization
I don’t need no burden of proof
It’s all idiosyncratization
That is all I’m trying to prove…

Shake it up,
             shake it up,
                           shake it up

                          Let it all tumble out,
                                 from your Yahtzee cup...

Don't mind if it's a Full House,

or a five of a kind...

Just can't afford to hide,
                 or lie,
                    or bureaucratize...

With the grand design you devise,

                     the device you prescribe...

               ...in the presence of mind,

it feels like a crime until you realize...

"My oh my, it's only my insight,

so what if some see whats behind my eyes as stalactite,

when in defense of my free will

                    I'm only being the stalagmite...

And even in forsooth,
when you feel I haven't told the truth
I never had anything to lose,
and as I stand in this tollbooth...

I hope you can allow a truce...

Knowing all I depict is my vision,
                a superstition,
                    following my intuition...

You may call it an understatement,
                           but I'm only depicting configuration...

And...
             ...whether you're Hume or Descartes...

...can't you agree there's more beyond those nine yards...

...or what you hear from this guitar...

                      ...that I could pith,
                              ...comprehend its gist...

...without the fear of getting Dixie-Chicked,

'Cause I'm sick of being the stalking horse...

                   ...but of course,
the motif is the main course,

...and something is always stolen from the purport,

So I'll just take it slow,
                               and go with the flow...

               ...surface this pons ansinorum,
        ,march away from the lliason...

Watch as I second-wind and prescind...

                 ...escape this perjoration...

And when I'm looking for a photo finish,

...I won't rely on the Mohs scale

...and just go about my own business...

           ...Let your own heart decide,
                   ...what you want to write...

...Otherwise it'll be a wild ride for all your pride...

...so trust me and upon yourself rely...

Because it’s all about idiosyncratization
I don’t need no burden of proof
It’s all idiosyncratization
That is all I’m trying to prove…

Underneath your clothes, there's an endless story

An interesting trail meandering through a semi-wilderness populated by feral thoughts and emotions with scattered reflections of eyes of unknown animals peering from the shadows.

Thank you for sharing this.

I'm glad the Dixie-chicks got dixie-chicked...they wanted all the glory of the words they spoke so if they get bashed for it so be it.   We don't all have to agree in this world...just try to get along...is this idiosyncratization?   I dunno...James

Mistletoe Angel, I'd love to say that I am bright enough to understand everything you had to say in your poem, but I can't...

But what I can say is...

Congratulations!!!

And thank you... sincerely, for spending so much time, writing such very warm and supportive comments for so many of this community's members...

In a world where so many people are too afraid to reach out, and show empathy and sensitivity. And common courtesies like, kindness, and consideration, and acceptance and encouragement.

You stand out... above and beyond...

As a pillar of kindness...

And as a column of compassion...

And, as the embodiment of gracefulness...

You truly do, epitomize the beauty of humanity...

And... we are all so lucky, to have you, as a real friend...

If goodness, and caring and all things pure were ever considered idiosyncrasies...

Then you Noah...

Would be.........

Well...

You would just be, you...

Our, Noah...

That's your poems and replies, friend.
Everyone of them that I have read come straight
from your hearts. You are always right
there with a kind and loving word of encouragement,
when I post a poem. I could never tell you how much I
appreciate your friendship. Thank you for being YOU, and

You have one heck of a vocabularly let me tell ya.  Everyone thinks I'm so smart but they obviously have not read this.  You have a good chance at being able to compete in the political world also.  I don't pay any attention to politics, I hate them.  And good poem.

I don't know if today is a good day, or if yesterday was, or if tomorrow will be, but I'd like to think so.

Yes, Noah, it's idiosyncratization... it's everyone's invention, everyone's colouring everything with what they think will make it all more interesting... because nobody wants to see beyond what they want to see.

We can't help being dixie-chicked, as you said (I like it, by the way).  There's nothing but personal invention and faith in that invention.  Who dares question their personal invention?

Hah, I'm having a hard time putting it all into words.  You did a much better job of writing this poem than I ever could have... thank you, Noah, for 25,000 incredible, heartfelt posts.  You're someone I've come to respect greatly with what little I've been let to know about you.
