Singing In The Rain

I sang my heart out today,
digging up those dandelions in the rain.
Music loud enough
to drown out any negative thoughts,
but those memories,
from when I was 15,16, and on up,
when love could spin you around,
keep a smile on your face
and a twinkle in your eye.

Behind me they were hammering,
putting on a new roof and
probably wondering what I was doing
on my knees, singing in the rain.

I don't have a great voice,
but I didn't care if I was off-keyed or not.
I pictured memories with each song,
my heart lifted me into earlier days
and for that period of time,
I was soaked, touched by words
and all was right with my world.

Maureen...singing is good for the soul...but I usually don't sing unless I'm feeling really good.  This feels a little sad, but also strong.

Hi Martie, I have no choice when it comes to memories...they were almost entirely shared with one person, so any song older than five years that comes on the radio, has memories of brighter days...It wasn't sad at all. I enjoyed the coolness of the light rain and  I would probably have been sweating otherwise.

Thanks

I'm singin in the rain.  Just singin' in the rain.  What a glorious feeling.  I'm happy again.  I'm dancing and singin' in the rain.

edh,  I wasn't exactly happy, except that I finally finished that part of the gardens.
But I was content, and didn't feel like it was "work".

thank you

wish you were, too. I could have used  an extra hand or two *s...and I am sure your voice would have smoothed out the sound of
mine.
Hope today is  a bright one for you~

There is a lot of dandelions mentioned on this board of late. Singing in the rain as you dig them up gave a most amazing image to my mind.

When memories pop up, there is no way to surpress them. I like the idea of singing to them, especially if they are not the most pleasant ones. There is something gentle in this piece; something I really appreciate.

Hugs, Marti

P.S. The workmen may have thought it odd that you were digging on your hands and knees in the rain, but I find it odd that they were on the roof of a house in the rain.

Thank you all, for the time you have taken to respond to these words of mine.

It has been good to know that others, at times, have felt the same.
