"Be kind. For everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle".~Plato~ (from GreenEyes critique Box)

No truer words ever written,  are quoted here
If only stop to think,  would we,  may cause not a tear

On this life's path when we meet someone by chance
Circumstances in their life,  we know not at first glance
Some people tell lots of things,  about present and past
Still inside themselves,  secrets just seem to last
Situations too hard to speak of,  deep inside their heart
Even though they want them gone,  they won't seem to part

Some go to a counselor,  or maybe even two
Trying to release inner turmoils,  wondering what to do
No matter how many doctors or friends in whom confide
The "thing" inside their heart,  never seems to subside
Putting on a happy face,  feeling anguish and pain
Thinking if they talk about it,  what would be their gain

In this coming year and all the years to come,  too
I'll try to be always kind,  and how about you
Will you,  my friend,  do this simple thing
I know if we will this do,  each of our hearts will sing
Knowing that we may have put a smile on another's face
Not adding more hurt to one's in their secret place

Plato said,  "Be kind. For everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle",  I read
To me,  my dear friends,  some of the truest words ever said

Oh,yes, good write, for one never knows of the traumas another has faced in life.  I try to take that in consideration and not be harsh in my judgement of others.  LOL...some do make it hard though...but your words are too true.  So like you say, be kind, one never knows.
Hugs.

Ethel,

Here you are, thinking of others.
What a kind, loving heart you have.
This is a wonderful reminder for us to be kind, and to ~SMILE~, you just never know.......

Hugs, Pat

Beautiful Ethel. It is so important to be caring and kind of others; whether we know them or not.

A smile goes a long, long way to making someone's day bright.

Thank you, Mr. Seymour,
After I posted this a little earlier, I noticed several poems on the pages today about "inner feelings"  (including the one you posted in December).
It seems we're thinking of the "inner" today. Not a bad thing to do. Right?
Thank you, Sir...

Thanks, Diane, for reading and replying. No, we never know.......
So many have things that hurt so bad they can't even
talk about them.

That's true, Marti........whether we know them or not.
When I worked as head cashier and Customer Service in different
stores, I always made a point of getting a smile out of the most rude
customers, even if it was only a little smile it was
a start for them.
We never know what is causing another person's mood
they are in. Sometimes, especially when I, myself, am in pain,
I forget to think about the reasons for other peoples actions.
I really try, though, to remember.
thank you, friend...

so, so, SO true.
Often I've met people and opon my first encounter wondered what was going on..
but with more acquaintance and a soon developed friendship I learn of all they hold inside.

Wonderful write.
Happy New year.

I was going to writie something like this, but you've done it well...I believe these words with all my heart, as I work with the public every day, and have to be the 'rule enforcer' with them. It's tough. I'm sympathetic, much as I can be.

Thank you, Alyssa,
Yeah, after a person feels comfortable enough to confide in us, we leard the reasons for their actions.
Thank you for your reply.......  :squeez:

Dixie,
I know you are a sweet, kind person. When working with
the public, a person does have to be stern sometimes.
but, I do believe that you do it with kindness....
Thanks for your reply....

Donna, thank you for your sweet reply.
I really hope that Lauren doesn't mind. I really don't
think she will. She's a sweet person, herself. I really
didn't think about e-mailing her before I posted this. I had
these ideas going around in my head, but they seemed to
kind of fall into place when I was replying to one of her poems
and read her Critique statement.

Thank you, again, Donna......

(big hugggsssssssss) Oh Ethel, you speak with such truth, sweet friend, I agree 110% with Plato's words and in a world such as ours today, I think so many forget this wisdom and judge the book by its cover and fail to recognize the anger, the frustration, the sadness, the taciturn lips can be explained with how someone is feeling inside and what may be troubling that person! (sigh) God Bless You, sweet friend, Lauren has an awesome quote on her posts just as I really love Shakira so I use her song lyric as mine, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Ethel, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!
