With Regret Don’t come any closer, I can’t bear To see my guilt, Reflected, In your eyes. I never meant To hurt you, The treachery Was of my making. I can argue that My inexplicable stupidity Was brought forth from My immaturity, A flagrant lie. I do regret my actions, The deeds that Damaged what we had, Destroyed - who we were. I created untold havoc, Your trust in me Became destitute, Rightfully so. Where was I in your need? I let you down by removing My wholehearted support From you, When you earnestly needed it The most. I should have been a haven For your triumphs, No matter how small. Instead I was a sacrilegious temple For your addictions, Feeding you At the altar Of enslavement. Dependent On your obsessions, Your cravings, To fill a void In my own life. |
