Empires fall, and fail to rise,
Love is hate; old truth: new lies
Crimson contaminates a swan's virgin wings
Dissonant chords spew from golden harp strings

A puppy, a child, side by side in a bin
Volcanoes vomit blood, earthquakes- sin
Oil infested carcasses wash up on the shore
A teenager's wrist wounds are reopened once more.

Thick, heavy smog inhaled by groom and bride
Acid rain can't dilute filth deep inside
Gaya is shrieking, yet your ears are deaf
To the fate of the earth, the fate of yourself.

This massacre of nature painted in future's mind
Look down at your fingers and you will find
This world will be real, sooner or later
And too late you'll realise that you were the painter.

Just thought I'd post something different to my previous poems.

The soul would have no rainbows, had the eyes no tears.

Shireen,

Well, you did capture the way it is, and a sad state we are in.
I think one of things we can do on an individual basis is take care of space we live in....ala: recyclng, no-littering, volunteer for clean-up work highways, neighborhoods....or just plain get involved politically, which I personally don't have much faith in.  Interesting write.

Hugs and warm regards, Pat

Thanks, and I agree with you completely Pat. If everyone did their part, there wouldn't be such a big mess. As long as people care, there's still hope though, and for that, I'm grateful.
