My soul....this part of me that is not well defined
by touch, sight, smell or feel.....only by the “feel”
within one’s own inner being... A time passed when
that wretched part of me fought the legions of my
heart.....Won many battles over the rocky terrain
of my mind....

Yet...though the battles were won....within there
burned a light ever bright, looking toward the rise
of brilliance, the warmth of compassion...the
touch of fire within veins where courage has
traversed, where fears have welled and waned,
where life has fought the gallant fight to simply....live.

Scars cover the chest of a beating heart, where
deep wounds have tried to kill the goodness of
a mortal desiring only to breath a fresh breath,
a breath of kindness, compassion and truth.
A breath of feelings without the numbness of
battles fought...

Take my hand, feel the firmness of fingers which
have torn hearts apart....now nurturing, holding
life ever so precious...knowing all things are good
and should be held tenderly..

My eyes reflect my soul....the haze of life’s mirror
vanishes between us.  I see the who I am, as who
I wish to be.....that I may always look into these
eyes, without a blink of waiver or a moment of
doubtful stare....seeing the crystal of a goblet,
filled with my life’s wine....vintage of taste
and swirl....

So many lines
streaked in silver here...
so many pauses
in shadow of tear...

Lovely, Barry...

wow, powerful words. And so, so amazingly done, as only you can do. The struggle and battle for every breath, reaching out to help others with your own battle scarred hands is too true thing to write of. And something we all face sometime, and some face all times.
Good job.. very good.

Always, Alyssa

I am at a loss for words to express how mournfully beautiful this is.  I read it through, then again out of order, then from bottom to top.  It is wonderful anyway you read it.  Thank you for sharing such an exquisite piece of yourself.

Great write, I'm glad knowing you've drunk from the sweet cup of redemption, where others spurn it.

Magnus darling heart I came back simply because I adore your writing, no one has the ease of style you portray, no one managed to write with so much joi d’vivre. Anyone who can write as well as this and consistently so deserves all the praise I heap upon you

Truly when I’m about so much less than I was, I need something extra fine to draw me in this is truly gorgeous a perfect heart’s write. I love it utterly utterly utterly

Love and warm stuff

Thy coolness and they balm
Let sense be dumb let flesh retire
Speak through the earthquake wind and fire

Yes a vintage of the finest and of exquisite soul and muse. A mighty fine work of art that we can sip and swirl and savor.
a for sure, Cher
