When I Am In My Garden

When I am in my garden,
I so often think of God
And ponder on creation,
As I'm breaking up the sod.

Each seed I plant, I water,
Then take time to watch it grow,
As He must watch from Heaven,
O'er His people, here below!

Then the plants require tending
And they all have varied needs.
Found in the garden's bounty,
There are always pesky weeds!

When I am in the garden,
It's an excellent time to pray.
Reminds me of His blessings
And I'm kneeling anyway!

(Big Smiles!!!) Since your down on your knees anyway, you just as well give time to prayer. I really like that idea a lot. Thanks for sharing a bit of your gardening experience here with us too and may God bless you and your garden most abundantly.

Joyce:  I agree that one can feel very close to God in a garden.  (I wish the skunk would go away however!!)

Hi Bob:  Thanks for reading.  I enjoyed your comments.  It's strictly flower gardening now.  I gave up on trying to raise much with the short growing season we have here.  But the flowers are beautiful and do well!

(smiles) Oh Betty, this is beautiful, sweet friend, yes, I've been working in my garden the past three days with my mom and it also reminds me of God because when we plant flowers, it reminds me of Him giving birth to His son and how we are giving life of our own, then when watering the flowers, it is like Him nurturing us all with love and kindness, and pulling the weeds is like protecting our children! (kiss on cheek) God Bless You and your garden everyday, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Betty, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Noah:  So nice to hear from you and good that you are working in your garden along with your mom.  It always seems like such a special time to me too and I look forward to it every spring.  Thanks for your response!

Reminiscent of that great old hymn. . .

I COME TO THE GARDEN ALONE
I come to the garden alone,
While the dew is still on the roses;
And the voice I hear, falling on my ear,
The Son of God discloses.

And He walks with me,
And He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own;
And the joy we share as we tarry there
None other has ever known.

He speaks, and the sound of His voice
Is so sweet the birds hush their singing;
And the melody that He gave to me
Within my heart is ringing.

And He walks with me,
And He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own;
And the joy we share as we tarry there
None other has ever known.

I'd stay in the garden with Him
Tho' the night around me be falling;
But He bids me go- thru' the voice of woe,
His voice to me is calling.

And He walks with me,
And He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own;
And the joy we share as we tarry there
None other has ever known.

C. Austin Miles

Thanks for taking us back to the garden, I Come To The Garden Alone
I come to the garden alone,
While the dew is still on the roses;

And He walks with me,
And He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own;
And the joy we share as we tarry there

LayItDown:  Thanks so much for sending me the hymn, which is one of my favorites. I am glad to have it in its entirety. I'm printing it out to keep.

This is beautiful!
Made me think of that same song that LayitDown shared.. which sadly always makes me cry, too many funerals I guess. And it also reminds me of the verse
Psalm 147:6
"The LORD sustains the humble
but casts the wicked to the ground."
so fitting!
Thank you for sharing this

Always, Alyssa

Alyssa:  Thanks for responding to this poem.
Alone in the Garden, makes me cry too, but I still love it. I always have trouble singing it, because it makes me so emotional. Thanks for sharing your feelings.

I can remember hearing the song come from my grandmother's bedroom during her time of prayer.

This was my daddy's favorite hymn.  It was sung at his funeral, at Mom's and I think perhaps all of our family funerals.  Joyce
