~ *** ~
The sun has set
Beyond the hill,
And with the darkness
Has come a chill,
That reaches deep
Down in my bones,
For the night is full
Of moans and groans.
A cold wind blows
The fallen leaves,
Across the tombstones
With no reprieve.
This night belongs,
To the living dead,
They roam the streets
With eyes blood red.
Dark clouds skitter
Across the moon,
As a cackling witch
Zooms by on broom.
Goblins, ghoulies
Rise from the ground,
To stalk their victims
Through the town.
The shrieks and screams
Fill up the night,
My hair's on end,
So great's my fright.
I flee back home
And bolt the doors,
Lock all the windows,
I'm safe once more.

You gave me the chills. Ghosts and goblins
gives me the ebbygibees. Oh! what fun this is. I'm not much of a party girl but, maybe I'll party with the witches and warlocks. I don't think they drink and drive? I have yet to see a witch flying drunk on her broomstick Love the poem.

You think that cause
you drew the shutter
You can take pause
the heart not flutter.

But I must to you say
a knock will come again.
A knock of fear not play
A sound beyond the wind.

For in the nightish air
a tap shall come to ear
And from a ghoulish flair
they shall come my dear.

I "love" your reply!

Actually, I did happen to see an inebriated witch who had too much of the "boil, boil, toil and trouble" brew. She flew right through the open front doors of a hallowed church. When she emerged out the other side, her gown had turned white, her pointy hat had been replaced with a halo, and she was flying with wings instead of a broom!

--My goodness! I have just revealed to you, who I truly am! tehe

Happy Hallowed Ween!

I think I have a little time
to get my poem ready
my heart is set, my eyes are dry
I think my hand is steady

but then I saw your ghosts and ghouls
at once my heart took fright
maybe I am safe within
on this Walpurgis night

but perhaps to be so sure
my poem will descend
a blank paper on the floor
will be my bestest friend

I'll not contest this gods
to write what I may write
your poem wins hand's down, I say
a halloween of fright.

You just blew my mind! I am trying to write a reply that would be so witty and gracious--but I honestly don't know what to say!

Your poem and your appreciation of my perverse desire to scare the livin' daylights out of you!--are very much appreciated! hehe

P.S. You could come and stay with me on Halloween---We can hole up in my place with everything locked and boarded up and I'd make sure we were safe! (Would you like some of my boil, boil, toil and trouble brew---er, I mean some of my angel food cake?

See you then!

Those spooks and goblins are scarey,
Let me tell ya something much worse,
The mechanic that works on my Porsche,
He wants his money up-front and first.

I met him at a mule farm,
With his arm up a horse's rear,
Said he was an Amish mechanic,
This will really make ya fear.

You should tell the mechanic to clean up his act, er arm, and get it into gear instead of up a horse's rear!  LOL

A Porche is a sacred form of transportation, and deserves some respect!

~ I am sending my heartfelt prayers to your Porsche for a "speedy" recovery!

Well, the love of my life, "My Family Man", is now my wasband but he and I have remained friends. I miss those days, but I have my memories--and I'm making new ones!

I know how it is. This is my second marriage. This was such a lovely reply to my response. So I thought I'd take the time just to tell you that is is your personality as well as your talent, that attracts me to your poetry. You are so light of spirit, and so giving of yourself and it comes across in every single thing you write. There is a childlike way about you, that is delightful, and yet you seem like such a woman of the world as well. I really enjoy your poetry and always look for your offerings of verse when I come here.

There is someone knocking at your door...

and asking you to come out and play EA... listen to them call:

Come…
Little one,
Filled with hope
And the joys of life,
Follow me as I take
Your hand and heart.

Let me show you
The darker side
Of pleasure as we
Expose the jugular
Of emotions shared.

Oh…
I will laugh with joy
As I watch your life’s
Blood drain from
This pretty face.

What horror and
Fear will you let flow
For my hunger to feed
So greedily on, when
You realize?

Come…
Little one,
So filled with trust
I am hungry and
Must satisfy my lust.
(Evil Laugh...and fade off to darkness)
