Wandering Purposelessly
By Larry Chadwick

Autumn leaves on a country road,
Farmlands passing lazily by.
It is beauty to behold,
With little effort when you try.

A journey of time unassuming,
When together is the place to be.
Wandering through the countryside,
Sharing in the things we see.

Comforted by the tranquility of it all,
And the ease with which it passes.
Effortlessly we pursue our course,
Without regard for the time that lapses.

Awed by the simplicity of it all,
Including the beauty of the time we share.
Determined we will do it again,
For nothing else can really compare.

Committed now to those future times,
Of purposeless wandering away from home.
Reclaiming the mystery of what it was,
To be content just to roam.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Larry, your writing has taken on a new bent, and it is comfortable, like a shawl, and I think I will gather your poems, to keep me warm through the coming months...

Larry - My hubby and I just love wandering the country roads, especially on a warm, fall day on our Harley. Life's simple pleasures are surely the best. I really enjoyed his poem. hugs to you, Chris

Larry,
as long as the walk is as soothing as this poem and you are not drifting aimlessly alls well, and if you are drifting, relax and float for a while, your anchor will ground you.

Larry...These words speak of a comforting peace that follows you into Autumn.  I pray that that peace keeps you in the warm cocoon of His love. Beautiful poem, wonderful imagery. ***Ivy Rose

Larry - I will miss the drive through the country side to see the change of colors this year, as I'm in Arizona. But I'm finding that the desert has a beaurt of its own to see...

Sue,
Thank you. I'm doing well but busy. And taking some time to catch up with how my life has changed. It's nice to be reminded how much you care.

Karilea,
What a nice thing to say. Always, you mean so much to me. Thank you.

Chris,
We have our leather jackets and I have my license! If only I could find my bike...
You are so right. Thanks.

Keth,
Sometimes the aimless wanderings feed the soul so well. Thank you dear friend. Hope your trip home went well. Wish I could have been there.

Noah,
That I will. Thank you dear friend.

Michael,
Thanks for that. I am finding calm in my life and liking it a lot. Maturity still has its advantages.

Ivy Rose,
I like your prayer very much. And thank you for such kind words.

Bill,
I settle for some internet cruising and a view of fall as I recall it. Thanks. Let's get together.

Lyra,
And I so miss the burning leaves of the Michigan Autumn season and all the ambience that goes with it including the nippy weather. I'll settle for some current descriptions from you though. Thanks friend.

Larry...Your words express my feelings exactly. I love to just take off to the country and travel roads that I've never been on before and wonder what I will see, especially during the fall when all the leaves are changing colors...Paul
