Long, long ago in sometime when,
Far, far away in mountain’s glen,
At spring’s first thaw was born a child,
Sired by the gods in nature wild,
With angel’s face and silken hair,
Her soul as pure as alpine air,
Raised by the stars, taught by the moon,
From evils of the world immune,
Of life’s perils unaware,
Protected by great grizzly bear,
From newborn babe to nubile child,
In Shangri-La, in nature wild.
One day into high mountain’s valley,
Came forth a man in fortune’s sally,
A man of strength with courage bold,
Seeking treasures; mountain’s gold.
Instead he found a beauty rare,
With angel’s face and silken hair,
A woman-child beyond compare,
With soul as pure as alpine air.
He took her gently in his arms,
Wooed her with his manly charms,
There in the mountains high above,
Taught to her of mortal’s love.
In her heart did maiden capture,
Fulfillment in love’s total rapture,
But then the man said he must go,
Before the fall of winter’s snow,
He left one day before the dawn,
Without her knowing he had gone,
Behind the maiden did remain,
Within her heart, lanced mortal pain.

It is said in mountains high,
So high that one can touch the sky,
The wind sounds oft as if were mortal,
Calling out from heaven’s portal,
A woman’s voice in sorrow’s pain,
Singing out her sad refrain,
Where have you gone my one true love?
I’ll wait forever, here above.
And if you gaze to mountain’s peak,
You’ll see a vision if you seek,
An angel’s face with silken hair,
A maiden fair with beauty rare.

The sound of a woman
languishing
can be forever haunting,
as some of your poetry
remains...
forever
haunting...

A lovely tale well told. Chris

"Hope" is the thing with feathers-
that perches in the soul....

A wind bore lament of love lost...and heart broken...cold empty cries...hauntingly written...

...believe what your heart feels...
