look up
look way up
look way, way up
see the faces painted on Sistine Chapel ceilings?
smile, there is an all pervasive presence.

look down
look way down
look way, way down
see the clown about to frown
spotted the hole to Earth's center....
that smile turned upside down
holes to our core... tough to enter.

look right and left at crosswalks
look both ways, then venture
after sets of teeth come dentures
babes flex flacid legs.. soon crawl
hoist themselves precariously at first...
not long after looks in all directions
lose their connections
before the fall.

look up
look down
look right and left
now that you've looked...see.

See being the operative word. So many see not at all. Great read. Enjoyed.

I said so softly
twas lost amid.
A whisper gone
thought now dim.

Most people just "look" at life and what is phyically around them, but you, dear poet, are one of the observers of life who "sees" beyond the obvious.

Hello Earth,

yes I tend to dig and fish for the unforgiving....rarely do I write light poems. Thanks for sharing.

White Rose,

quite right..just as many don't say what they
should and listen to what they'd like to hear

Too often we look but do not see and hear but do not listen. Thanks for "seeing" and writing such wonderful poetry to help us all do the same.

This is really cool, Martin...
You've really highlighted the difference between looking and seeing.
