Listening to every heart

Finders, Keepers

There they are,
no,
they’ve disappeared
again,
every time I turn
around

I hear them
whispering
in the wind…

I think I see them
in shadow’s
sound
I hear them scurrying
all around

they bump into me
and thump my brain
then just when I think
some ground I’ve gained,
there they are,
no,
they’ve disappeared again,
every time I turn
around

I hear them
whispering
in the wind

I’ve lifted rocks
sorted socks
brushed the cobwebs
from cornstalks
sifted silk
from golden ear
I knew I left them
somewhere near.

Did I leave them
on the swing?
Or in the middle of
a wedding ring?
Did a little fairy
pick them up
and leave them in
my coffee cup?

Simple words, easily
said
running circles
inside my head
leaving footprints
like little elves
in sugar spilt
upon my shelves.

I hear them
whispering
in the wind

Words that fit
like a satin glove,
words of coo
as from a dove,
some simple terms
from up above,

yes,
I’ve found them!

And
it’s them I love.

While not an outright challenge,
Mysteria inspired this little fancy
of thought by posting this charming
poem today.  I hope others will take
up their pens, and write of memories such as this...

and thank you for reading!

I really thought this was about your children, until near the end...and words, trying to capture them, fits quite well, too.

I was thinking of a person having raised 2 or 3 children, or more, going through the house with the things that are still there, that call up memories and having them be so real that one is almost certainly they really did hear them.

Like this a lot!

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

(smiles) Oh my gosh, this would make an excellent challenge, I LOVE THIS IDEA!!! Of course for me it would prove to be more difficult as I am still growing up and don't have a family of my own yet but I can write of other special people this way! (big hugggssssss) This is beautiful, sweet friend, Sharon will be delighted to read this as I have, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Karilea, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Of course this is about small children..
our own, or grandchildren...
So tell me, why do I see little elves
scurrying around in my garden when I read this?
Wee little men folk..hummm.
Adorable read Karilea!

Very special, Karilea...
I had the same feelings as Virginia...
In fact I often feel this way about my children's stuff.
An excellent write with a lovely light touch.

Karilea~
This would be a 'keeper' ... glad I'm the 'finder'~

'every time I turn
around

I hear them
whispering
in the wind…'

Oh ... don't we know this feeling well ?

Oh Karilea, I inspired that?  I inspire way better than I can write, so now I am thinking of hanging a shingle, "Inspire For Hire", oh that was simply lovely and read aloud it is adorable for both my "young friends" and even younger "old timers" - they all will love this. Those little elves "borrow" a lot of my words too as some of them are, shall I say, "shiny"

Oh by the way, the picture brought tears to my eyes, but that is another memory.

The most valuable thing you own is a smile, wear it, and share it.

You could make losing keys poetic, Sunshine. I love your words. (great, and now I have to write a poem called "losing keys")
