I love you within reason
for so many seasons
coming together
lying naked under the trees.

We've weathered storms
threatening to bend and break
the swing of complacency
and all that I hold dear
securing the foundation
with every trial and tribulation.

As the sun sets
wayward across the sky
in the cool shade stirring
filtering the light incessantly,
you are the quiet rustle
dappling my thoughts.

I have grown with and without you
flourishing;
as a lover sways in the breeze
in the spring with new leaves
rising above,
letting go of my dreams.

Only now do I realize
where I stood
and the reason's I chose to stay
beneath you, by your side
listening with my heart that tells me so;
setting myself free from the shadows of doubt
that once surrounded me.

You're a cloud burst in winter
the steady drizzle of rain
pitter pattering;
a shiver in the wind caressing me
keeping me covered under a blanket of fog
when the nights are dark and stormy.

You're the sand upon my shore
leaving foot prints next to mine
the deep blue ocean of my hope
shifting with the tides
the endless summer on my sea~
eclipsed behind my eyes...

Thanks, I've been a little out of sorts lately...lately? Oh that sounds good, kind of like more often than not....   I've missed this place and being a part of it all. I appreciate you, Kacy, Sue, and Noah for reading me and taking the time to leave your replies...really I do!

Lori,
I am amazed. Such affirmation of love! I knew you were a resilliant woman, I just knew it. All that and talent too. (Now where are those trees?) Hey...email me!

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Just love this verse, and the rest of your poem. Very open, and heart warming...

Bill~ Within reason being the keyword, glad you picked up on that.  Moderation isn't such a bad thing after all, it's part of the reality and holding onto the feelings.  Good to see you here BC, thanks.

Jeff~ You always manage to bring a smile to my face.  I gotta tell you I spent a perfect day down by the seaside today...the wind was calm and the ocean was shimmering in all it's beauty.  I put my feet up on my cooler and let myself go there.  The alone time was time well spent, just me, my book and I....
Thank you for your kind words, they are truly a comfort to me.

Magnus~ I shall take your words from one tender heart to another~
My sleeve is what it is...and I am proud to wear it even when it doesn't look so hot on me!     Thank you muchly~

What a lovely testament to the love of someone close. It’s so comfortably serene, as love should be. So nice to see you back here Lori.

Dulci~ Energy and resolve eh?  I like that combination!
Thank you always sweet one.

Lauren~ Good to see you here too...have you been getting my emails or what?  My computer crashed and burned a while back so I'm not sure what made it across the wires and what didn't.  Big ole hugs to you!!

Lyra~ I never meant to leave, I guess I just ran out of steam and had a hard time keeping up with everyday life as it was.   Ya know the one that's supposed to be a bowl of cherries...lol~  Thanks so much g/f ~

Mike~  Ahhh, by george I think you've got it!!!  Thank you for reading my words exactly how they were meant to be.

Maureen~  Thank you for the lovely....I've a tendency to get a little soft at times but I guess it's better than the alternative.
Hugging you back~

Maggie~ Thank you and welcome to passions~

mycafe~ Thank you for your sweet sigh~ I too have been moved in such a way when reading other poets and their poems.  If they only knew!!
Thank you again for letting me know.

James~ I do reflect and try to capture the days I spent in paradise
"in my little grass shack"  when the summer truly seemed like it would never end.   Thanks....

Hello Tracy~  I think it's a question of what we are willing to live with and without, and it is there we find our comfort zone.  Gosh I'm just so happy to see you here... thank you.

hey hey Capt~     Now that is quite a compliment...and it's awful nice to hear from you.  Thanks.
