Luminous blood orange
waxed heavy at end of street day
Summer
this blaze of pleasure
I sweat
so sweetly
down the drain of my thoughts
for you

I imagine silhouettes
stirring, rasping
into heat road ghosts
lying on edges of curved road hurry
burning
last moment wisps
before eve wicks
light night out

Soul kissed
we are
just one lane away
where a timid moment flares silver
in the rearview mirror
and I am driven
way beyond my normal routine

Hello Regina

Yet another masterful piece of writing you have given us.  The images were outstanding. I love the way you write.

Take care....Sue

love the imagery in this ....
quite a unique write here...cant recall any other poems with references to "heat road ghosts" but I'll be darned if thats not what those heat waves look like   ...I like the cryptic, cajun, "voodoo feel" of the south this has to it...
(if that makes sense to anyone but me)

Those lines have a nice touch of imagery in them....enjoyable read!!
