shadows fall
in depth of night
making the darkness
even deeper
and shadows call

I sit
eyes wide against the gloom
making fragile plans
my body sends
messages of exhaustion to my brain
but I do not listen
I do not heed
there is no need
tonight is the last,
the very last time
I will do this

Tomorrow with the dawn
I will be gone
the sunlight will not find me
the daytime
will not mind me
my night-time plan
will be fulfilled -
as tenuous as it is
it will be complete
I will become one with the night
its covering
a protection
and a safe harbour
a place where I will reside
and hide in
The night will be my friend
endless
in its shelter
forgiving
in its compassion
and encompassing
in its power

Come with me as I join the night.

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

Well, Keth you are sure writing some wonderous images of the dark of night.
But I for one want you to come back into the llght and write to me, to others and to yourself.
When a person learns to take it easy on themself then things start to fit together. Especially very sensitive people have to get to know themselves and realize that they are that way and it's not the end of the world.......Just a phase and that because of their sensitivity they are very special to others....things have a way of working  out then!! Giving is always winning and sometimes one has to give time to his/herself and realize how much they have to give to others!!

Have a nice day down under!

Beautifully done, Keth...
I too, love the night shadows...I also love dark and rainy days.
Somehow, I think it must be a poet thing.

Keth darling sister of my soul and keeper of dreams sighs this is utterly utterly wonderful. Yet again this is another example of how amazing your writing is, the smoothly flowing touch of wonder that simply slides into the pools of quietude that lie undisturbed within

You know I love it don’t you? Fabulous writing darling heart. Your use of line, and form is exquisite and I utterly utterly love this. I am awed by the perfect flow and line in this utter delight, I love it and it’s utterly utterly fabulous. Darkness may flow in the night but your writing shines as the beacon calling softly to cede to nights dreams.

You know I love this, I told you so, and I mean every single word, you are an amazing writer and this is awesome

Could you do me a big favor? Would you please bring me some of the water you've been drinking? It will be tough to stay thirsty until September... but worth the wait if I can sip some of your talent! *G* This is fantastic, Kethry!

The first time I read this I thought it was a suicide note. I'm still not so sure it isn't. There's an intoxication that can come with exhaustion, and I think this poem demonstrates it. It is well-written and very effectively done. I'll join you in the night if there's singing, okay?
