Life Overtakes Woman

Time gathers effortlessly,
an invisible sprinter
with a cutthroat grin;
a rotten trick of age.

The race ensues.
She prides herself on her pace,
and so the scarred knees
and eau de chalk marks
parfum.

Used to be, though,
she could see the finish line.
Now it’s a mirage
leading to false ends.

She whispers a secret,
a roar of a mantra,
running with one prize
rolling in her mind.

Marathons are mere events
to be tallied toward the goal:
the sea she remembers.

BRAVO!!! Oh Corinne, this is so very powerfully said, I think life can indeed be like a marathon, and as long as we train ourselves with trust and a dream close to our hearts, we will achieve that second wind and your life will be greased lightning joy! (sigh) This is wonderful, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Corinne, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Both the first verse and this one found instant recognition here. *S* I like this very much, Corinne. *S*

Loved "a roar of a mantra" and the ending stanza. Not to mention the rest.

She whispers a secret,
a roar of a mantra,
running with one prize
rolling in her mind.

your on a roll Corrine, this flows along effortlessly and lands in the soul...

Like a red brick,
in a white wall
somebodies brush
forgot to paint...
lonely....(as sung by Tracy Lawrence..)

Corinne, I happen to know that Noah is hardwired into the system. . . it's a part of him. . .

love this one. . . there's a lot of inner thought here. . . you do it so well. . .

Corinne~

'the sea she remembers'

That thought captures the essence of where the spirit of woman runs~

Love your poetic thoughts ... always~
