I left you there alone, afraid
Unsure of what to do or say
I walked away, I should have stayed
If I knew how, another way.

A touch of linger on your face
A whispered voice to calm the fear
A heart on palm did softly trace
tissue damping lightly each tear

Holding you close, lingering long
feeling the shudder and shiver too
fragrance remembered, tags along
always reminding me of you.

Two gold rings touching as hands grasped
a bond of love stronger with age
Kiss of passion from which we gasped
Tender sweet as emotions raged

I left a part of me that day
upon the corner as you cried
Just one more time I couldn’t stay
and as I turned, part of me died.

Magnus - Oh my goodness...this one is simply beautiful! Brought tears to my eyes. Library bound. Thankyou for this. Chris

Beautiful Barry!
Would that 'fragrance remembered'
happen to be White Shoulders?

Magnus Hi there, this is exceptionally fine writing, don’t tell mum I used her favourite expression, but it is utterly utterly excellent.

Your lines in this are wonderful, and the words only you can sculpt such divine poetic pieces, which fill the mind with the real feelings of your heart.

Very well written. More please

Though, in a somewhat different scenario, I understand this perfectly.  If I knew another way...
