Pre dawn

Shadows still cling tightly
To the tossings turned
While I try again to drift into dream
Escaping this nagging circlet of need
To touch again beyond the skin of real
And feel in shining quake of tremble
The soul touch of another

I could hide myself these times
In the space between the shadows
And the walls they cling to
But even there I am blanketed in
Clammy doubts

First Light

Too late now to sleep
I rise with staggered stumble
Of one that has lay too long trying not to move
And finds movement now requires an effort and resolve
To not bury myself in covers hoping their warmth
Will in some way make the chill felt deeper go away

My eyes would now close if I could let them
Instead it is coffee, a shower, clothes and work

Early Morn

Fog lies on the fields as a mist of rain
freckles windshields making it hard to see beyond
The confines of myself
So in pre dawn fashion I look inside to try the memories
Of subtle quake awakenings that shook chords of me
In resonance with something in another you
Hoping the feeling sustains me a bit longer
In this loneliness of knowing not but knowing still

You spoke of opportunities last evening
And stints of working elsewhere
Your excitement wrapped carefully in what could
Have been deception or could have been caution
So I reminded you that you had no family to tend to
And were free to pursue those things you wished
While feeling a thought of your desire to not be
But not willing to be not

It’s cooler today
One needs a jacket to fend off
The shifting wind

*sigh* ...I wish I couldn't relate to every word.  Even so, your depiction would have struck me even if it weren't so close to home.  Your scene is heart-breaking....hopefully it is just that, a scene, and not true to life.

Hugs,
~Krista

Your beautiful words & creativity allow me to connect with the same in myself.
Thank you for having the courage to share yourself so that I can too

Ms Kitten: all to often the things we write we have had personal experience with. I am sorry you relate to this too well..

Sea... yeah something go beyond touching reality... perhaps the metphysical in me yearns at times to touch those things deeper that we know are there but that we can't quite bring to our world.

Noah.. your replies are always appreciated my friend

Deca; no matter what jacket it wears one sometimes has to search the edges of our vision to find it.

DS.. Thank You sir... I am pleased you could find something in this to enjoy, and appreciate your read

Martie my gentle friend... thank you for all

Enchantres: Peeling layers can be dangerous if not revealing... thank you for the read my friend

James: many thanks for the read and glad you enjoyed.
