Dust In The Wind (click to hear midi)

Chasing The Wind

Time takes the pace,
And gives the measure,
Traveling forward toward ambition,
And backward toward forever.
Standing still only for the dream,
Life can seem to go so slow,
Yet sometimes seems to fly away,
Even so it passes on the same.

So what is the purpose,
To now you’re here,
And next you’re not,
If all you’ll ever do and be,
Are lost among the pages,
Of unwritten history,
Scattered like the sands of time,
Under the waves of eternity.

There was once a man,
Who had done everything,
As it was his afforded privilege,
For he was a powerful king.
The richest and wisest,
In all the known lands,
But life’s ultimate control,
Was out of his hands.

He knew that it was,
For nothing, he’d gained,
All his wisdom and wealth,
all his knowledge and fame,
For life is a vapour,
A breath while you’re here,
To be savoured and cherished,
Before it disappears.

Life means something different,
To all it touches and departs.
Others all around us are each one,
Playing their own parts.
For some it means two become one,
In reaching out to share their hearts.
And still whatever living holds in store,
It is worth not ending before it starts.

Chasing the wind.......
It was written down so long ago.
Chasing the wind.......
From where it comes, you’ll never know.
You know you’ll never hold a breeze,
Silence a gale, or calm the seas,
But keep on living life from day to day.
Carry on.......... anyway.

(smiles) WOW!!! This is a wonderfully spiritual poem, sweet friend, yes, throughout time we have continued to seek console with our spirits as the winds blow, and today, we continue to do so as the ever vigorous gale of life breathes in our hearts and all we must do is learn to capture it! (kiss on cheek) This is sooooo beautifully meaningful, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Sherry, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Lovely, Sherry...

Purpose = writing poetry, in your case, I think.  Just to wake us up and make us look at what is happening around us...

Sherry m'friend, this is absolutely beautiful!  Sorry I missed it earlier, but I had my head in the oven cooking up a storm.  If you stand outside you can probably get a good whiff!
This last stanza is remarkable...seems to sum it all up.  Into my library this gem goes!

Inspired by the book of Ecclesiastes from the Bible, written by the "King" I referred to.

Yes this is the interesting part about life...so many things we have control over...and so many things we do not...like the music...yes this earthly body is just dust in the wind...James
