Don't be fake and say what I know you don't really mean
For when you let down your guard...your true colors can be seen
Don't smile at me, when I know the tears your cry inside
I've always trusted you, though secretly there is so much from me you still hide

You always try to be so brave, allowing no one to see the hurt that you feel
Yet you insist from me to explain mine, something tells me we need to reach a new deal
You hide behind your blank stare, thinking I'll leave well enough alone
Why do you want me to believe you have a heart cold as stone

Your laughter is so beautiful, your smile could light up a sky
Instead though you choose to make me feel all you want is to say goodbye
Why hide your heart when it's so clearly seen upon your face
I already know beneath that tough exterior lies magic and grace

You tell me that you can't be happy and love, the way most others do
You forget though sometimes the things I know and exactly who it is you're talking to
You asked me to hold you once, but I explained I could only be your friend
I'm devoted to another...but that doesn't mean the friendship we have has to end

As I looked at you, my determination once again was met by your cold stare
I reached out my hand to you, but you quickly were the one that pulled away and just walked on
