Ya Old Crow

Ya old crow
yellow beaked
beady eyed
walkin’ ‘round
all clumsy like

raucous noise
splits your face
your caw has not
one bit of grace

arguin’
with your mate
from the tree tops
early, late

then you take off
begin to soar
in the sun
your sleekness pours

gliding, rising
falling low
your beautied wing
will ebb and flow

you hardly are
the bumbling one
when soaring ‘neath
the springtime sun

a raven’s kin
is what you seem
where evil lurks
a nightmare’s dream

but you
oh, comic one, are best
at feathering
a tree top nest

so sing or chortle
your blatant ways
and I will look
for your best days

CAW! CAW!  said the crow
upon the branch and bough
Sitting there way up high
watching us from black eye

Such a sound I do lament
from a black bird you sent
Please take back this bird
and give us your solemn word!

Nice poem Virginia...liked this..

Like your bird, V.  (I'm a bit of a crow fan myself.)
