“HEARTHROB FROM SHOOFLY JUNCTION”
by
Bill Charles
~~~~
I met her at the dancing bar one night,
and could just barely make out her face,
I was tipping a few you see, and well you
know when one does that moonshine the
eyes seem to go blind somehow, anyway we
wanted to get it together and away we
went in that hot rod Ford of mine down the
road, won’t say where or what happened
but it was good from my recollection…
But as destiny would have it one night we
met again at that dance bar, heck I was
drinking that moonshine again and couldn’t
see much at all, well anyway the woman I
was sitting with was actually her sister,
the prettiest I ever saw, at least
I thought she was, as remember
I wasn’t seeing too well at the time, we
hit it off really well, and was together like
glue on a pig’s behind stuck to a tree…
She had the prettiest brown eyes, and
longest and softest brown hair, a face like
sunshine warming violets in the meadow,
and the tenderest voice I ever heard,
needless to say I had her right where she
wanted me, and I wasn’t the least bit
wanting to get away, whew…
Sorry to say she was in one of those really
bad auto accidents while I was away in
the Navy and didn’t make it, tore me up
it did, broke my heart, I still remember
my heartthrob from Shoofly Junction
from those many years ago…
BC. Good Morning ~~ I was all excited when I saw another Shoofly Junction title and couldn't wait to read it.
Despite this one ending on a sad note, I still enjoyed reading it. I cracked up over the line, "and was together like
glue on a pig’s behind stuck to a tree…"
Thanks for the read ... hugs for peace, Marti
Bill, I love these. I hope you have
lots more of them to tell us.
Hey, I can't remember how you said it,
but I thought the pig's behind stuck
to the tree was cute, too......I could
just see a pig stuck to the tree, just
wiggling around trying to get down.
Heart Hugs,
Ethel
(big hugggsssssss) Oh Bill, this is very heartaching, sweet friend, I hope this is all fictional although I sympathize that other people in the services probably had to endure these tragedies or vice-versa! (sad sigh) God Bless You, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Bill, thank you for sharing!
May love and light always shine upon you!
Love,
BC- You always do a great job, and this is absolutely no exception. The only question I still have... Were you seeing her through beer colored glasses. I, too, know what happens when the shine hits your eyes like a big bad horsefly...
