Two bones fall
all spaceship-pretty
among the apes.

We fight to lift them
against the sun,
to give them shape.

Our pelts all dusty.
Our fear of collapse.
Our colors change face.

Like fish to bread,
like wine to water.
We all have a taste.

I know it's over.

I just love this poem, definitely one to come back and explore time and time again.

Thanks, Marshalzu. Just a poem saying that, in war, both sides -- the peacekeepers and the warmakers -- are equally accountable. We're all human, after all.

And humans are scary creatures.

Though I still can't get the monkey scene from 2001 outta my head.

remember the sound
that could wake the dead
but nobody woke up at all

Such is the human race. Often it does seem such a pity that Noah and his party did not miss the boat.

~Mark Twain

thought i'd post that again, a favourite quote and fitting to add to your poem, two great writers and minds

I enjoyed...well worth the reading.

Thanks for following this trail of crumbs. I appreciate all your comments.

I've seen this happen
in other people's lives.
Now it's happening in mine.
