Soul
pulled taught
over flesh
and bone
an ancient drum
she struck deep
into the night

Ceremonial
reunion
lifetimes shared
unfolding
in wild eyed
fever dance
open hearts
and open flame

But music died
drained and
collapsed
drum and bones
discarded
and buried
in the sand
their magic spent

The fever dance has a way of leaving you out of breath and wondering what it was all about in the first place.

Dang Raph, I like your magic act better than mine, so I guess I'll ummmmmmmmmm...

sleep on it!

Even in your "dark/er words" you are amazing...I think I am in complete awe of your work....and sadly, I never have enough time to tell you...( i do read though)

The first stanza struck me as very well thought out.  I think I need to meditate on this poem for a while.
