The wind does rage,
Rattling panes that leak
Veining tendrils of cold
To threaten tenuous warmth.

Wrapping closer still
The blanket of your memory
Round an older
Perhaps wiser heart
I watch the flicker of shadow
Knowing even flames fed well
Can be extinguished.

See...this is what you do so well with "so little" ... you made us feel the cold with your imagery...then let us warm for a moment in the emotions...and the let the chill come back in with those last lines of poetic impact.
I dont see "cliche" I see succinct successfull poetry done Capt style

"Never made it as a wise man
couldn't cut it as a poor man stealin
Tired of livin like a blind man
sick of sight without a sense of feelin"

wrap the warp of sweater's weave
negate the cold of winter's leave
for soon the spring shall be a whim
and fancy! Love, shall spring again

Well done indeed!! Enjoyed this. Chris

There is so much hope written in these words.
I especially liked what you said about a wiser heart!
Good things happen to good people and there is always
the blanket of memories to keep us warm.

Really nice poem!

Warmth, though tenuous, still draws our hands. Well said.  Bob
