Stick Fish

Stepping
stones
earth chipped smooth
moss moved

A stick fish
dream scales

Contradictions dot the ridge
where a white cross man made
stands beside the yucca

The smell of sage and dark water
the sound of warm gathering on the rock
next to the empty pack of Marlboro
and a child’s plastic shoe  just one

Sun has drowned through the crease
of earth following the curve
to the cement city
and the sea

This and you
are my wilderness

Now this is nice... The only fishing I've seen around here lately is Ice Fishing and I don't think they are in love with anything more than the fish.

You know what I mean Sis..?

I don't know what a stick fish is, but I like the imagery and emotion here.  Very good.

Explanation

A stick fish is something that you feel heavy on your line as you reel in ...yet it doesn't have the tug of a real fish, you think, pehaps, just perhaps, it is a real fish...and what you pull out is just a stick.  I have caught some of the biggest!

I want to know where this is and when and how...

"you are my wilderness" ... god, now I wait for the day I find someone to fill these lines. Struck me like a stone... and I'm still a little numb.

I'd like to write you about this... think I will, much to discuss and explore... thanks for this Martie, a little dark creeping into a magic-muse world...
