The Passing Seasons Of Her Life

Marking the passing seasons of her life
each month, it flows red
the badge of womanhood
uniting her with all womankind
a universal sisterhood
crossing boundaries of religion and race
wealth and status

it's arrival in her springtime
heralds her blossoming adulthood
fertility, newly realized

in her summer, a signature of ripeness
bearing the burden of her precious fruit
and nurturing instincts

in her autumn, it's very disappearence
marks the end of her salad days
no longer the lithesome vixen is she
but more beautiful now than ever
like the colors of the leaves as the year matures
it is time to reap the fruits of early seeding

in her winter, her wisdom emerges with age
like the glistening snowfall, she is quietly beautiful
her heart warms us like the a flaming fireplace

seasoned by life's raging storms
weathered to perfection
she radiates wisdom and grace

though the red flow has ceased
she still proudly wears
the badge of womanhood
now burnished to a brilliant sheen
by the passing seasons of her life

I'm keeping this one. Smiling, won't even get into how I feel about being one with the tides at times, but truly...ssshhh...it's like a woman's secret of knowing.

I love the analogies, and the graphic too, by the way is quite reminiscent of the Tarot Card, "Three of Cups"--always a good omen of self celebration!

Thanks for this one. I leave wondering why I don't stop in more often!

Lyra - I like how you captured the different stages of womanhood through the changing of the seasons.  Autumn, I must say, was my favorite.  Nicely done.

Is it any wonder that King Solomon and I adore women. God's most glorious creation, shared and all to often unappreciated by man. How sad. Thank you for sharing. Lyra, I simply adore this!

Doreen...thanks so much for your exuberant praise...I will tell you, that I feel the same way about your poetry.

Karen...thanks so much for stopping by...and by all means, you are invited to do so, any time.  I know what you mean about a secret amongst women...that is really the truth.  There are things in this world that only women understand.

Karilea...I wrote this for you and me and all of the other women of the world.  I'm glad you enjoyed it and thanks so much for your reply.

Victoria...I agree with you about the seasons.  Either we need more of them or each one should be longer...thanks for your reply.

Floria...Thank you and I am looking forward to reading your poem about women.  Please hurry up and post it because I will be out of town for a few days, starting on Monday.

Noah...thanks for the congratulations and for the hugggsss. I'm glad you enjoyed.

Dave...fancy meeting you here!!!!!thanks for reading and replying to my poem.  Autumn is my favorite also...not only as my time of life and in this poem, but also as a season of the year.  I love the colored leaves.

Newell...thank you so much and I'm glad that you and King Solomon appreciate women so much.....we deserve it.  If not for women, how would men even be alive?
