Deceit smothered
love's flames
forcing her to
wander alone
in the cold and damp
scarlet wasteland
of broken hearts.
Unable to stop
the stinging tears
which spilled like
diamonds from a
jewelry box
of memories
within her tortured mind,
She numbly watched
as devotion pooled
around her feet
in an abstract puddle
of liquified, shattered
dreams.
Wallowing in this
self-made mire,
she prayed for
saving grace,
and was handed
back
her
pride.

This is such a sad poem with so happy an ending.... I loved the way you painted this picture.... I could see the dark skies swirling above you and just as it became the darkest.... Grace!!! but was it your pride that you needed....... Yes.... just thinking out loud..... I still wouldn't mind meeting the dude who did that to you in a dark alley.... he's have a little less .... Pride.
Wonderful write.

Cherish the good memories past and look forward to the adventure called Tomorrow.
But above all... be kind to yourself today.

Noah - Thanks sweetie, you always take the time to read and sign. hugs!

Magicmystery - I love happy ending too. Thanks so much.

JanetMarie- Thanks so much for your response. Yes, my muse has returned, but with a grimace and a grumble. Vacation must have been over too soon.

Dulcinea - thankyou for reading

Sometimes it is at the bottom where we can most appreciate what is at the top.  Very emotive and well done poem!

Ah Chris, this one comes from someplace deep inside...a distant memory perhaps, long gone now.  Very well done and so full of emotion.  Excellent write!
