Why can't I write a sonnet like you did
and let the words flow softly into rhyme
To write da-Dums with words that truly fit
I tried but sure it must be the wrong time

They say to look at you sweet Balladeer
At least to sonnets that you wrote before
Lost in your stories is what happens here
Cause when I read I look at rhyme no more

So I will give this sonnet one more try
I hope I did not make a too big mess
At last I'm glad you did not hear me sigh
But then it is our fate to sigh I guess

I name this sonnet my Balladeersong
It is my first but it won't be for long

A rose is a rose is a rose...I guess...

Bravo, Titia, I find sonnets impossible to write...Poetic discipline and I are enemies, thus free verse and haiku are my joy! this is very well done...Ellie

Titia, this is wonderfully done!  I have a very hard time writing a sonnet or trying to get words to rhyme.  Give me free verse, anytime.  Oh, I think I just made a rhyme...perhaps I shall try to pen a poem sublime!

I've heard tell, he can do it all...but that could be rumor...

Good job Titia.  You have the winning spirit, because you always try, and most often, succeed quite well...

Kudos!

*sigh* I love sonnets and though I try my hand at them from time to time...I can just never get them to flow quite right...This is a wonderful sonnet and our Balladeer will surely love it. **big hugs**

Imitating the master and then naming it after him is the sincerest form of flattery. I'm sure Balladeer will be flattered. As for the sonnet? I really hope you write more..I think you've got it!! Good job Titia!

Titia....I am IMPRESSED!!! This is nothing like the one you posted before. Your syllable count is exact and, with one tiny exception, your iambic rythym is flawless! Believe me, you didn't just sit and write this down. You studied and worked very hard on the construction in an obvious determination to make it right....and you did an excellent job. I applaud you, dear lady!!

Smartchick, thank you

Balladeer, A+??? WOW. I think the tiny exeption you mentioned is in the two last lines? When I read them over again, I stumble a bit over those lines, am I right?

It's fun to do but my hubby went crazy hearing all those da Dums

I like doing them though so you'll see more I'm sure

Titia, much tighter,
I can feel its rhythm and flow, I can't do this type my syllables are all stressed you know.
