Without you here so near with me tonight
I drink and think of times of yesterday,
I pour white wine starting at first twilight,
I can’t grow used to your going away.

A glass and another flows into me,
Nibble of bread and cheese like you are here,
Only pictures of you for me to see,
You have flown off to some working elsewhere.

I pour a glass for you to take with me,
Pretend to talk to you like you are here,
But words echoes blends with music softly,
And there is no wine glass rising in cheer.

I can’t drink a happy glass without you,
Drinking in solitude will never do.

Bill

(sigh) Oh Bill, I know just how you feel, I never feel like celebrating when I'm all alone either! (sigh) May you forever raise a toast to love and share the wine of life forever with her! (big hugggssssss) Soooooo beautiful, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Bill, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Very good poem, fills one with emptiness. Don't drink alone, go out and visit some friends.

Noah,
I’ll raise a glass to toast those not with us.  Lovers and friends.
Your responses are always so sweet and mellow.  Just what I need about now.

*sigh* such sadness fills these words that they touch the heart. Very well written. Your pain flows from each word. **big hugs**

Love I leave with you whether it is in your life now or yet the essense of your dreams.

Inot2B,
Too late for that now, been drinking and I don’t drink and drive.  I’ll just pass a few moments with friends here on line till I wander off to sleep.  It’s the only advantage of drinking at home, no where to go.

Startime,
More like a flow of wine, whining for myself.  Not trying to be sad, but there are times when sad seems what the cup is filled with.

Very powerful, yet somewhat haunting in the images of loneliness.  Very good expression.  I think we've all been here at one time or another in our lives.  Hang in there, it does get better.

I have felt this sad before, finding that we are not alone in these feelings can be a good thing...

but...in another poem, I see the impending return, so you shall not have to raise a glass alone...very soon...

"thinking of times of yesterday"
sometimes, that is all that there is...

No sooner does she appear but she's off and flitting away again... I surely hope this lady knows what a wonderful thing she's got in you, Bill...
