Tender is the Heart

Fragile is the rose’s bloom, it’s petal plush and fine
Sweet the honeysuckle grows on dainty flowering vine
Stately is the lily’s stem but fragile are its folds
Tender is a heart that has these silent gifts to hold

Red the wing of cardinal as it opens wide for me
Blue and white the blue jay wing in rhododendron tree
Yellow is the warbler in the holly by the shed
Tender is the heart that swells in flush of cardinal red

Purple is the dawning sky that wakes a tearful eye
Bright the beaming fires that burn in height of midday sky
Soft the twilight hour when blue-gray shadows slowly creep
Tender is the heart that needs a starlit dream to sleep

Fragile are the moments that can tear the page of trust
Sweet and dainty are the words for which the flower lusts
Stately the demeanor of the bloom that stands apart
Strong the spirit’s inner core, but tender is the heart

Tender is the heart, indeed Liz.....beautiful phrasing in this one. "Starlit dream" especially stood out. Well done.

God bless America, my home sweet home.

You know how much I love art and this painted the most beautiful picture I have seen in a long time, how do you do that?  It flows with such ease and grace, and the picture you paint is so vivid.  Exquisitive Liz.
