I never wanted to realize it could be
Months have gone by and I denied it
Still I have always knew it would one day be
Just not this soon
The lights I found to guide my charter through life
… gone …
Their oils have ran thin and wicks short
Now fate deals me a new test
“So tell me, are you ready” it asks
Ready! Ready for what!?
“To return … to return to the darkness,” he said.
After that I sat down for awhile,
I sat and listened to the silence
Again fate talks to me, “Why don’t you answer”
Then I think to myself, I may still find new lights to guide
Yet why … why should I look
What is to keep anything I may find from leaving
“Are you ready, can you handle it” he asks
At this point the only thing I can think is
Why can’t Fate find someone else to pick on
Now what helped contain my sanity is gone
Again fate asks, “are you ready, or are you afraid to find out”
And finally to him I reply
Am I ready Fate, I can not answer that
I suppose yes though, it’s time to go back
So now I will stand up and walk back
Back into my world of darkness
To where that goes, only fate knows
And to that my friends, Fate smiled

Hey Bae!!   so good to see your name this morn.
Your retrospective piece is most timely....I think we are all looking inward and looking ahead and trying to see if we are up to the task.  Happy New Year! hope to see you here more often.
take care

*sigh* there is always a little light to find in the New Year...let your heart, soul, and eyes be open that you may see it. This poem left me feeling sad. Powerful feelings written here. **big hugs**

Love I leave with you whether it is in your life now or yet the essense of your dreams.

How very introspective, Baer...
I really enjoyed it, because I have also been having some trouble with my lights.
Sometimes they work and sometimes they don't.
You might check your battery, it might need some charging.
Happy New Year!
