If I Were A Faceless Friend Just if I had the face of an angel blessed by God's tender touch Or if I had a face as flawless as a sunrise when it first peaks over land Maybe if my face graced the minds and hearts in the world I live Maybe, just maybe, I wouldn't have never felt the roughest of hands... For it was my face of ugliness in depth being viewed by some That gave those monsters the assurance nothing could be uglier than what they laid down So, by being their toy for pleasure and their joy forever it seems Made it OK, in their eyes, cause much ugliness was already found... On a scale, I see I was way down to a single number one Never rising to that number ten we all wish to be If I were a faceless friend when those moments came to teach me a lesson or two Then maybe, in their eyes, once again, I'd never known the saddest dreams... If it were possible to take this face of mine and leave it somewhere else Would anyone find just a little beauty in me never seen? But, since I really can't leave my face out of what belongs and always has I still want to know what it's like to have a gentle soul lie down with me... I recall the words so clearly and so hurtful to this girl's pride And, I believe, I do, what they saw through their eyes So, my face just wasn't something they desired at all To them, being ugly made it OK if another should fall... Although I find myself living under those cruel words There's a part of me that someday wants to know love I want the kind of peace that most of you out there get to feel I wish I could be loved someday the way I want... If I were a faceless friend would I know things to be a little less rough? And, will someday when I'm ready be lucky enough to feel the softest touch? Maybe even find their way on top of me like I've never known before I can surely take the weight as long as the heart is pure... So, can you take my face from your mind and look farther in? Maybe then someday I wouldn't have to be this faceless friend There's that someday I may get to know what love is about at last Just, if I had my pick it would be someone I can never have... Write it all out. But the fact is, the face was never the real issue. Brutal rough hands don't care about loveliness or ugliness on the face of the ones they brutalize. The truly ugly face is the one they see in the mirror. And if they could but see their hearts??? They would see something darker than midnight or coal, something that crawled up from a nasty street gutter or sewer. So don't be worrying about the face you present. You have a beautiful face and soul to match. |

Wow, a lot of depth and emotion here Saunni. A lot to think about. But I must echo Kacy. And you have a beautiful face, but even more important, you have a beautiful heart. Don't settle for anything less than you deserve, you deserve the best. If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please? |

Saunni, Of all the poems I've read, this one touches me deep down, coz these are my sentiments exactly. Not a beauty by many's standards, I always wonder if I'll ever know love. If I'll ever feel the touch of a man who really loves me for who I am, and who'll see pass my looks... Well, all I can do is hope and pray, and fall and stumble until I find this man... |

I feel this. Now, I could be way off but I feel you want someone who accept you no matter how beautiful you are (and you are) from the beauty from the inside.
